Richmal Crompton

A picture of the author Richmal Crompton

Richmal Crompton (1890 - 1969) was an English schoolmistress and writer. Though she considered her real purpose to compose adult fiction, publishing forty-one books and nine short story collections, she is renowned for her sentimental Just-William series of books and stories, about a mischievous eleven year old boy and his friends, who called themselves "The Outlaws." We feature a few of these stories here.

Richmal Crompton, Just-WilliamFor adults, we feature Crompton peculiar little "Christmas" story, The Christmas Present in our collection of Christmas Stories. It's a story that you will probably figure out before the ending, but one you will still look forward to finishing anyway.
