The Brothers Karamazov

The Brothers Karmazov was Dostoevsky's last novel, published as a serial in The Russian Messenger (1879-1880). It took more than two years to write this deeply philosophical work involving free will, morality, and existence of God, set in 19th century Russia. Dostoevsky died four months after its publication. Dostoevsky's novel was a major influence in Franz Kafka's Dystopian novel about a man accused and prosecuted by a remote authority for unknown crimes, titled The Trial.
